Pamela Anderson has written to the governor of Florida in opposition to “roadside zoos” where she claims chimpanzees are being kept in inadequate enclosures.

Anderson, who regularly campaigns for People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) , wrote: “PETA and I appeal to you to take action to prevent Florida’s roadside zoos from keeping great apes, and to ensure that these intelligent primates are transferred to approved sanctuaries to live out the remainder of their lives in suitable surroundings.”

The former Baywatch star is heading to the US state this weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Animal Rights Foundation of Florida, says WENN.

Anderson is to be the subject of a new Living documentary which will also feature former EastEnders star Joe Swash. The special will focus on Swash as he follows Anderson in her everyday life in Paris and L.A.
